Countryside Code

The Yorkshire Wolds Way passes through working farmland. Keep dogs under close control, especially around livestock, and follow any local signs at field boundaries.

Wild camping is not a legal right in England, and water supply is a major issue in the dry valleys. Plan overnight stops at pubs, B&Bs, or campsites listed in our accommodation section.

Stick to the marked path to protect crops and chalk grassland. Close gates behind you and take all litter home.

The trail's solitude is part of its charm. Help preserve it by walking quietly, respecting residents in villages you pass near, and parking considerately at trailheads.
